How to Maintain your Internet Browser Security

Just by visiting a webpage, you expose certain information to automatic collection even without cookies enabled.

Surf Anonymously
Here are two anonymity services where you can surf anonymously for free. These are private companies, so remember they too are theoretically capable of the very tactics you seek to avoid!
Enter the URL you want to visit, and click Surf. (need to agree to their terms).
Type any new URL into toolbar at top to continue to surf in secret.
Also lets users surf through its servers for no charge at the top left hand side of page. Easy to use but can be slow and graphics may not load. Faster if you pay for it.

Increase Your Security
Change security settings in Internet Explorer to better protect your privacy.
Open Internet Explore, Click Tools and choose Internet Options.
Go to the Security tab and click the Custom Level button to change your settings.

Here are some recommended settings:
- Download signed ActiveX controls: Prompt
- Download unsigned ActiveX controls: Disable
- Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe: Disable
- Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins: Enable
- Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting: Enable
- Downloads: Enable
- Java Permissions: High safety
- Access data sources across domains: Prompt
- Don't prompt for client certificate selection when no certificates or only one certificate exists: Disable
- Drag and drop or copy and paste files: Prompt
- Installation of desktop items: Prompt
- Launching programs and files in an IFRAME: Prompt
- Navigate sub-frames across different domains: Prompt
- Software channel permissions: Medium safety
- Submit nonencrypted form data: Prompt
- Active scripting: Prompt
- Allow paste operations via script: Prompt
- Scripting of Java applets: Prompt
- Logon: Automatic logon only in Intranet zone
